- Served in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman
- Worked as a senior administrator at Bergan Mercy Hospital, Children’s Hospital and Medical Center, and Lutheran Medical Center for 36 years
- Served as a Nebraska State Senator for District 12 from 2014-2018, where he was Chairman of the Health & Human Services Committee
- Elected to the Ralston Board of Education in 2020
- Board member of the Mid-America Council on Scouts, Omaha Symphony, Outlook Nebraska (chair), United Way of the Midlands, Nebraska Wesleyan University (president’s advisory board), Children’s’ Square USA (Council Bluffs), and the Combined Health Agencies Drive (CHAD).
